In the modern world of abundance, food is everywhere. Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusion about what to eat. Nutritional science has come a long way in understanding the five essential components of food: carbohydrate, fat, protein, minerals and vitamins and what the consequences are for each when these components are missing from diet. This presentation will explain how nutritional science has made great strides in finding ways to determine which foods provide essential components and how to protect against deficiency diseases.

The five components of food essential for your health are protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, minus salt. When these essential components are missing from our diet it leads to several diseases such as hypercholesterolemia , acute hyperglycemia , chronic hypertension , hyperlipidemia etc. A healthy vegetarian diet consists of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, minerals and fibers.
